Devastating News

Posted on 11/08/2008

It is with deepest regret that we are writing this as part of our news- we cant even believe it ourselves! However last night ( Monday 28th July ) Shropshire was hit by a fierce thunder storm. Our area and specifically our yard was lashed by thunder, lightning and torrential rain. During this freak storm lightning struck two of our ponies and we have tragically lost them - Penucha Lochlan owned by Karen Gillot and ridden by Georgia Renshaw-Smith and Pebbly Pepperpot owned by Kati Choynowski and ridden by Alexa Choynowski.

We have had so many messages and calls today from the team and outside to send us their thoughts. Thank you - it has made the day seem a little better to know that so many of you are thinking about us all and specifically Alexa and Georgia. We have lost two great ponies who were loved by us all.

RIP x

We have had such an overwhelming response this afternoon from everyone, including phone calls texts and emails (including one from one of Peppers(Blues) first jockeys Mum,  who used to hunt her!) we felt it was only right to share the messages with you all...........

Dear Julie and all,
this is a very belated message to you all, the 2 darling ponys wee
riders.
I cannot imagine the pain you have all felt, I prey that time will
heal, and those precious memories you will all keep in your hearts.
How very lucky we are, to enjoy them, and I know they can never be
replaced but we will all appreciate our ponies so much now.
Both will be in a magical place, alongside so many special ponies and
people, and be gaurding their young jockeys in the future.
With all our thoughts and love
Linda, Robyn(NCPA Cumbria bursery winner) her sister Mel and all of us

Huge hugs for the girls x x x xx x

i was devastated to hear about blue (as i knew her).
Blue gave me my biggest success in the show ring and my only ride at
HOYS in 2003. where we were placed 3rd in the non natives. she made me
cry on many occasions when i rode her, and i was in tears when i read
some of the lovely comments people have made. in the showing world she
clearly made a big impact on peoples lives. she made many peoples dreams
come true! she bought so much joy to all of her owners and riders.
we were all blessed to have had her and i hope alexa continues her
successful season, its such a shame she wont be able to have blue.
thank you blue for everything you really were one in a million, we will
 never forget you.

hi guys
the same thing happenned to one of my ponies 2 years ago. I would never
wish it on my worst enemy.
Unfortunately my pony was not killed straight away and was found in the
 paddock in the morning.
But if he hadn't been killed then i would not of had Moortown Hamish
who is a lovely pony. So just remember to hold your chins high because
something great is just around the corner!

SORRY TO HEAR YOUR DEVASTATING NEWS THINKING OF YOU ALL EVE AND SHANNON
 X

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of
our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of
food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and
vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just
as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The
animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager
body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the
green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally
meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The
happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved
head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long
gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My heartfelt condolences to all concerned.

Heather x

Hey always have a look at your site to read the reports and results, so
shocked to hear about your loss yesterday. My thoughts are with you
and the children who lost there ponies, :)

When i lost one of my horses when i was younger i was sent this,

There's no need to cry
I'll tell you the secret of why horses die

I go to a pasture that's
far away and above,
But know that we're forever
bound by our love

I'll make hoofprints to heaven
So you'll find your way,
Wear the path smooth to
keep you from wandering astray

I'll carry your guardian angel nearby,
With my wings wipe the tears from
your soul when you cry,

If you're ever alone,
Or your life's hard to lead,
Close your eyes and remember
Me, your eternal steed,

Who awaits, at the gates
to carry you home
So the last journey you make
Is not made alone

On my golden hooves we'll gallop,
And on silver wings fly,
Yes, this is the secret
Of why horses die.

Hi Julie,
Sue stayed over here last night, and told us the terrible news this
morning about the loss of your two ponies in the thunder storm. I'm
terribly sorry to hear it--it must have been an absolute nightmare, and I
can't begin to imagine how you and Fiona must have felt. I've just been
looking at your site (your mum gave me the address) and had only just
been admiring the little Pebbles pony when it occurred to me to look on
the news page and I realised that she was one of the ponies killed.
I hope you're both as okay as is possible in the circumstances, and
also the children who owned the ponies.
Love, and hope to see you at some stage soon,
Shirl xxx

Such a touching tribute to the two beautiful ponies on Julies website. Cant even begin to imagine how they must be feeling. Such a tragic loss. Deepest sympathies to all involved, especially the two little jockeys xWell done to everyone who competed, the standard of horses and ponies were amazing. One of the highlights of my week was seeing Julie Templeton's team on I think Thursday morning all riding down by the bridge and having FUN - that is what its all about.

Yes Julie Temps Team had a fab time - gave the ponies a funride around the grounds - this was Peppers last outing and gave her little jockey a fantastic time cantering around with the big kids. Julie always believes that the kids should have fun as well as the serious stuff.

Gone but never forgotton
