Great Yorkshire

Mud, mud glorious mud and the possibility of no classes.....

Arriving at Great Yorkshire and a call from Alison, as we were waiting to be towed onto a field a mile away from any ring to tell us that all the show pony classes had been cancelled - nice seeing as we had left at 4 and already plaited our 14.2!! However half and hour later the classes were reinstated but with no go round ( and also no working in!!). Caitlin was thrown off the members car parking field as she attempted to work in on the only bit of grass in Harrogate. While Mandy, Neil,  Alyshia, Marissa and Lewis were sunning themselves in Spain, Caitlin went into the White Rose ring in a foot of mud. However it paid off - Sparky won, qualifying for HOYS. His win is currently being toasted with Sangria. Thanks to Caitlin for the riding and the plaits ( we are sure they will get better - we know he only won because of them! )

Next in the ring was Chloe Renshaw-Smith riding Aloof in the first ridden. A great go round and a top pull, however the going was to prove a little heavy but a final result of 3rd was remarkable under the circumstances.

Not to be outdone by her sister, Georgia went into the 12h HOYS Show Hunter Pony and did her most polished show to date. Finishing 2nd and much deserved, we all enjoyed watching her gallop in the Championship.

Waxwing Pop-along ridden by Georgiana Foster had a great result on home turf, having secured her HOYS ticket at Lincoln County it was nice that they won the M&M Lead Rein at Great Yorkshire in a huge class. Thanks for the Pimms Simon!

Emma Jackson should have had two rides today, but discovering that Yealand Myth her 15h had overreached she was down to the ever reliable Highmead Night Surprise in the 14h as her only ride. Not to let her down in the appauling afternoon conditions in the White Rose ring - Gem came second and qualified for HOYS. This brightened Emmas day and put her in a good frame of mind for her Spanish exam tomorrow. Things would have gone much smoother if she hadnt left all her study work in the horsebox - so we have all had to endure a night of Lisa doing 'teach yourself Spanish' over the phone to Emma. Does anyone know what mucho peblo means? But dont worry Emma we know it was far more important to remember the make up bag!

Thanks to Dad and Uncle Rod for building a great new rug room at the bottom of the yard in adverse conditions however we did note that the minute we were away this morning you both left and went back to Scotland!

Finally well done to Team Ahern, first and second in the Intermediates today, HRH said she was impressed with your lap of honour. We were impressed by the PImms! Thanks x
